Can Germans Be Funny?

Germans are often considered reserved, stiff, and overly orderly. Many people consider German serious with little humor.
This may be the case on the surface but once you know a few Germans, you'll realize that there is a lot of humor in the language and daily life. In fact, Germans love a good laugh!

Making fun of politicians, German dialects, work, relationship issues and even religion and themselves is evidence that they don't take things too serious.

One of favorite German comedians is Kaya Yanar - who actually of Turkish descent:

Then there are also some fun German cartoonists who really make you laugh:

The German Fastnacht or carneval season is made for just the pure fun, to laugh, drink, make jokes and have a good time. Germany even has set aside holidays for this purpose, e.g. Rosenmontag. In the USA, there is Halloween for one day a year. In Germany there is an entire season beween November 11 to into February/March.
Entire cities close down for parades on certain days and even business live is impacted.

Young and old celebrates sillyness and life!
Germans are dressed in customes. Friends and entire teams of coworkers meet up in pubs, bars and enjoy this time a year!

Even entire TV shows are dedicated to this annual event.

If you tell me now Germans are not funny, you haven't experienced them yet!
